Postnatal Care Terms & Conditions

This service requires a GP referral before the first attendance. You are welcome to book this service and then subsequently provide your referral before the first appointment.

Every effort will be made to ensure appointment times are kept, however, due to the nature of the midwife's responsibilities and birth being unpredictable, sometimes appointments need to be rescheduled. This will incur no additional costs on your behalf,  and no refund is available for rescheduled appointments.

It is expected that you will provide a safe environment for home visits for the midwife to attend. 

Visits can be booked at your requested intervals based on availability. This means if you need more support at the beginning you can have more frequent visits, and then later space them apart, depending on your needs.

Full payment is required for this service. No partial refunds are given if you decide appointments are no longer needed. If you decide you no longer need appointments, your out-of-pocket costs may increase. 

​

You are still advised to have a routine appointment with your GP for you and your newborn between 5-10 days and 6 weeks postpartum. A midwife appointment does not replace this. 

​

This service does not replace your antenatal or birth health care provider. This is for postnatal services only and all clients are required to have another booked provider for antenatal and birth care before booking this service. 

​

Consent for any rebate given by Medicare for services rendered via phone or telehealth is claimed by the midwife and not included in your personal Medicare refund. For this reason, you will assign your right to benefits to the practitioner who rendered the service.

​

Visits between 25-30km driving distance of Brisbane CBD can be considered at additional cost of $8/km. This is calculated based on return time, fuel and wear costs.
