Pregnancy after loss can change how you prepare for your next birth.

For many parents after loss, birth education can feel complicated. You might feel unsure how to talk about your previous birth experience or even feel nervous about being asked tricky questions.

A regular birth class might not feel right when you’re surrounded by other parents who have no idea of the story that you hold.

This Birth After Loss Class was created to offer something different.

We provide a gentle space to prepare for birth, ask questions, and be held in community when the feelings can be complex, unpredictable or even overwhelming. There are no expectations in this class.

We recognise the emotional realities of pregnancy after loss and acknowledge that perhaps last time you were very unprepared for birth, and so this is an opportunity to give you the knowledge, tools, and strategies to help you prepare.

If this feels like the right support for you, we would love to welcome you.

Is this right for you?

These classes are for parents who have previously experienced the death of a baby before or shortly after birth, following either a vaginal or caesarean birth.

If you feel comfortable to do so, we welcome stories, discussion and will provide a space where your baby who died is honoured, acknowledged and remembered. You can participate as much or as little as feels right. There is no pressure to share.

We understand that birth after loss can bring fear, especially if you felt unprepared last time. This space honours those feelings while gently supporting you to prepare again.

We keep class sizes to a minimum to reduce overwhelm.

All parents are welcome. It doesn’t matter who your chosen health care provider is (e.g.  Obstetrician/ GP/ Midwife) or where you are planning to give birth — hospital, birth centre, or home.

You are both welcome to bring an extra support person (just let us know so we can make them feel welcome). Please note: we’re unable to provide care for toddlers or children.

We know your birth plans may still feel uncertain at the time of considering education.

This class offers guidance for a range of possible birth experiences. We also acknowledge that it's normal to be fearful about planning to take a baby home, however we choose to hold hope that this will be your experience and so have intentionally chosen to add in postpartum information about caring for your new baby.

If thinking about attending brings up fear or past trauma, we encourage you to book a birth debrief with Liana before the class.

It’s okay if you’re not sure you’re ready for these classes. Many parents feel this way before, but are so thankful they have attended.

Note: both Liana and Allie offer in-home postnatal care and would welcome the opportunity to support you after the birth of your baby.

If you’d like to chat with Liana or Allie to see if this class is right for you, please contact us to arrange a time.

If this feels like the right support for you, we would love to welcome you.
