Birth Plan Template

This is a tool for sharing what matters to you. Birth plans can come in all sorts of names; plans, preferences, wishes... Inevitably, birth outcomes are hard to plan... but birth “preferences” or “wishes” diminish the importance and subtly imply they are optional to follow. When in reality, you have made careful decisions.

But ultimately... call it what you want (I’ve called it birth intentions, but you can change this). It is a communication tool to get you thinking about your options, convey your choices, and advocate for yourself so you can focus more on the important work of birth itself.

This guide is designed to work with your philosophy, so you can achieve positive outcomes, regardless of how you birth.

It is a bit more detailed than your average ‘birth plan’ because I believe it is important to be aware of the many things that you may face and not think, ‘oh , I wish I had known!’

THE GOOD BIRTH LETTER

A monthly note from Allie with birth insights, postpartum tips, and gentle encouragement - like a warm cuppa with a midwife friend.

The Good Birth practices an inclusive non-discriminatory LGBTQI+ friendly service. We endeavour to use inclusive language wherever possible.

We pay our deepest respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of the land in Australia, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and culture. We recognise the wisdom and knowledge that First Nations people have always held around birth and kinship.
